Introduction:


The Valle Verzasca is a valley in the Locarno district of the Canton of Ticino, Switzerland. It comprises the municipalities of Mergoscia, Vogorno, Corippo, Lavertezzo, Brione, Gerra, Frasco, and Sonogno. As of 2004, the total population of 3,200. Mergoscia is at the geographical center of the Ticino, and none of the passes out of the valley cross cantonal or national borders.

Hiking:

The old muleteer's track that connects Sonogno to Lavertezzo is called "Sentierone per l"arte". On some stretches it runs on the right side of the River Verzasca, sometimes it runs on its left side. Get In:

The nearest big city would be Locarno and the nearest town just at the end of the valley is Tenero.The postal bus leaves approx. every 2 hours from Locarno, Bellinzona, or Tenero. Having 18 stops around the valley, the bus passes all villages and the surrounding area, making it easy for travellers to hop in and out at any point. In Lavertezzo, the bus stops near the church tower.
